Advanced Camps at The Art Spark are an opportunity for your child (9-12 years) to dive deep into exciting artistic techniques that take their art to new heights! Each camp focuses developing techniques that open up a whole world of new opportunities. Whether your child is an avid creator or just looking to explore new things in art these camps offer a wide array of opportunities. Each camp is one week long, drop-off only, M-F from 1-4 PM.

Week 2: June 10-14
1,2,3 GLOW!
Ages 9-12 Years

Creating art is always a magical experience but campers will see art LITERALLY in a different light at this camp in our special black light room! We have worked throughout the year determining which sculpting, drawing, and painting materials glow best under our special black lights so we can offer the best glow camp around. Sparklers will work on canvas paintings, sculptures, tote bags, jewelry or keychains and more all that can GLOW!
Week 3: June 17-21
Embroider, Tie Dye, Sew
Ages 9-12 Years

Fabric is a diverse art material that can be manipulated in a number of ways! Camp will begin by brainstorming different things we could use our decorated fabric for. Pillows? Stuffed Animals? Curtains? Clothing? Scrunchies? We will then learn a variety of different methods to dye, stitch, & sew to create unique fabric that can be used for whatever projects we imagine!
Week 4: June 24-28
Clay, Plaster, Jewelry, and Paper Mache!

There are many different forms of sculpture that allow for new ideas to be unleashed! Each day of camp we will focus on a new material and learn different techniques that can be used with that material. Will we create clay animals using handbuilding techniques? Plaster molds? And paper mache pinatas? Once campers have learned the new techniques they will focus on the types of projects they could create using those materials! By the end of the week, we will have a full gallery of sculptures to display for parents!
Week 6: July 8-12
Room Decorators
Ages 9-12 Years

It’s time for a bedroom makeover! Campers will begin the week by brainstorming the types of DIY projects they would like to complete to give their room at home a makeover. What will they imagine? Woven wall hangings? Wreaths for their doors? Sculpted clay pots with succulents inside? Decorative letters to hang on the wall? Garland? Bulletin Boards? Move over Chip and Joanna, because we are bringing our best ideas in custom decor to this camp!
Week 7: July 15-19
Harry Potter
Ages 9-12 Years
1-4 PM

Advanced campers will create their favorite aspects from Harry Potter. Will they create spellbooks? Wands? Hedwig? Butterbeer mugs? A golden snitch? and illustrations from Hogwarts? Imagination will ignite as campers create the most magical elements of Harry Potter as they work to learn new techniques in art. This camp will incorporate painting, drawing, and sculpting techniques.
Week 8: July 22-26
Painter’s Paradise
Ages 9-12 Years
1-4 PM

Campers will learn the differences of watercolors, acrylic, and oil paint during this exploratory camp! We will paint on a variety of surfaces and study different techniques that can be applied with different kinds of paint. We will learn how to use complimentary colors, tints, and shades to render some of our paintings. We will also work to create layered abstract works of art! By Friday we will have a beautiful gallery of unique artwork to display for parents.
Week 9: July 29-Aug 2
Clay ALL DAY!
Ages 9-12 Years

Slab rolling, hand-building, coil building, trapped air forms, slipping and scoring, & carving are just some of the techniques we will be focused on during clay camp. Campers will make a list of things they would like to create and have a gallery set up by Friday. Will they make clay houses? Mugs? Bas-relief tiles? Clay carved images? Imagination will ignite as we challenge ourselves to use clay in new and interesting ways!
Week 10: Aug 5-9
Sensational Screen Printing FULL WAITLIST ONLY
Ages 9-12 Years

Screen printing is an awesome printmaking technique which allows students to rapidly produce their best designs on t-shirts, scarves, posters, bags, and more! Students will imagine, draw and design their very own silk screen(s) . They will then choose items to print their designs on. If your child loves to draw, design, and paint, they will LOVE seeing how rapidly they can produce their designs with this process. They will swap some of their prints at the end of camp and also have a gallery show!
