Class Theme Description: Diner Designers
Sparklers will work as a team to decide the type of diner (or restaurant) they would like to create! Will they imagine a pizza buffet? A Mexican taco casa? An elegant white tablecloth restaurant? Once decided, we will work hard on designing different parts of our restaurant. What will we need? Menus? Aprons? Food? A Chef’s kitchen? Each week we will use different art materials to paint, sculpt, draw and create our restaurant!
Week 1 & 2: CLAY We may be sculpting food, centerpieces, pots and pans, or serving dishes. We will practice our hand-building techniques and learn the importance of slipping and scoring!
Week 3: Drawing Sparklers will consider how they could draw menus and signs for their restaurant! We will practice drawing different types of food, lettering, and more!
Week 4 & 5: Fabric We need to look the part if we are working in a restaurant. Sparklers will decide what type of apparel they want to create. Perhaps chef hats and aprons?
Week 6: Paint Sparklers will create decor for their restaurant. They will determine the type of painting that would fit best in their style of restaurant!
Week 7: Recyclables We will provide a variety of recyclables and students can create various cooking tools for in their kitchen. Will they create pots, pans and whisks? Or will they want to create a cash register? The possibilities are endless when we use our imagination!
