Full Day Camps 9AM-4PM

Camps are drop-off camps designed to help your child explore art materials, ask questions, learn answers, solve problems, and gain independence. Full Day Campers will have the opportunity to experience two different themed camps throughout their day, with an hour break at lunch.   All camps will be held at our Main Avenue location.

Week 1: June 3-7 FULL WAITLIST ONLY

Morning Camp //Lunch//Afternoon Camp
Ages: 5-9 years

Crafty Market 9-Noon
Framed artwork, yard art, jewelry, clothing, wreaths, scarves, decorations, and more are waiting to be created for a Crafty Market! Sparklers will imagine what it would be like to have their very own booth. Will they each have a niche product, or will they each sell a wide array of goods?  Throughout the week they will create a variety of sculpted and painted crafts before setting up a booth at their very own market. What else will they need? Bags, business cards, a cash register, and booth decor? Sparklers will imagine what it would be like to be their own boss, imagine, and create from the heart as they customize their very own booth space at a Crafty Market!

Hotel Vacation 1-4 PM
Let’s jetset and explore a new place! Sparklers will work as a team to determine their dream destination and hotel for vacation! Where will we go? Paris, the Caribbean, Madagascar, the Amazon? We will fill our studio with painted murals and scenery from the location of their choice, before building our hotel. What types of hotel will they imagine? One with swimming pools, restaurants, and a movie theater? This week of vacation is designed to take imagination to new heights as we paint, sculpt, draw, and create the hotel vacation of our dreams!

Art Spark’s Got Talent 9-Noon
Every child has special talents just waiting to be discovered! During this camp we will work all week to put on a show to feature our talents. We will also create the set, costumes, and the act to go with it. (Children can do their act independently, or with a group!)  What types of talents will we see? magic tricks? singing? hula hooping? dancing? acting? What will our auditorium need? lights? a curtain? seats? a stage? ticket sales? a snack stand? We will learn new artistic techniques as we draw, paint, and sculpt the projects we need to create an amazing talent show for Friday.

Dollhouse Designers 1-4 PM
For this camp each Sparkler will start the week with a wooden real-life dollhouse that is just WAITING to be transformed into the house of your child’s dreams.  We will work through each room to imagine ways to create the different rooms of a house. How can we sculpt sinks, cabinets, and a fridge that can fit in out dollhouse? Recyclables? Clay? Plaster?  Should we paint the walls inside, or add wallpaper? What imaginative elements can they add to this house that they couldn’t add to a regular house? Is there a slide connecting the first floor to the second? We will also create the dolls that can live in the homes!

Sensational Superheroes 9-Noon
There’s been a shadow cast over Art Spark City. The City was once filled with flowers, colorful decorations, and glitter, but now everything is drab and black and white. We need a team of superheroes that can restore our city back to what it once was! What powers and gadgets will we need to fight this darkness? super speed? rainbow powers? flame throwers?  What types of costumes will our superheroes wear? Our powers will be put to the test as we see if we can combat the darkness in a series of fun and challenging tasks on Friday to save the city. (Sparklers will create the city, costumes, and gear for their superheroes throughout this week using painting, sculpting, drawing and more!)

Delicious Desserts 1-4 PM
Sparklers will look to painter Wayne Thiebaud as they create some delicious pieces of artwork!  Cupcakes, ice cream, cookies, and more are waiting to be creatively concocted during this SWEET camp! Sparklers will pick different desserts each day and learn new techniques in art that they can use to create sweet treats that looks good enough to eat!  We will also think about what we should wear as expert dessert chefs! Will we need aprons and chef hats? We will also make a special visit to UDF (It’s across the street) on Friday to get some ice cream!

Mystery Box 9-Noon
What’s inside the mystery box? Could it be rocks? Could it be socks? I don’t know but anything goes….what’s inside the box? We will learn this fun song the first day and discover a magical box that is always filled with strange, fun and exciting materials! Each day we will find new things inside the box and then work as a team to use what we find to make a very special creations. What will we find? Socks and make sock puppets? Rocks to paint? ….Probably not because then it wouldn’t be a SURPRISE!

Costume Creators 1-4 PM
We can transform into anyone or anything with a little imagination, art, and a costume! Sparklers will think of what costume they would like to custom create. We will work each day on a different part of our (completely unique) costumes- wigs and hats, masks, accessories, clothing pieces, and more! On Friday we will take our costumes to the runway for a costume fashion show!

Week 5: July 1-3 FULL WAITLIST ONLY

Pirates vs. Mermaids 9-NOON
Ahoy there matey! Welcome to Jolly Roger cove, a land filled with treasure, parrots, and pirate ships! There’s only one problem here, mermaids be takin’ over the island with all their sparkly fins, pearls, and dolphin friends! It’s time for these two to settle who owns Jolly Roger cove once and for all! Sparklers will work to create Pirate and Mermaid costumes, Jolly Roger cove, and be given a series of creative challenges to see who will take ownership of the island!

Cave of Wonders 1-4 PM 
What treasures and magic await inside a cave of wonders? Sparklers will brainstorm how to build a cave and fill it with the creatures, gems, and magical features. What will we need once we enter the cave? Climbing gear? Flashlights? Will our cave have treasure hidden deep inside? Sparklers will sculpt stalactites and stalagmites, paint bats and other cave creatures, and work to build their very own Cave of Wonders.

Week 6: July 8-12

Stuffed Animal Factory 9-Noon
What are your favorite animals, and how can we make these animals into adorable stuffed toys? That’s the question we are looking to answer in a variety of creative ways at this camp! Each day we will work on creating stuffed animals using fabrics, paints, craft materials and more! We will start out by sketching our ideas before transforming our drawings into a 3-D stuffed animal creation.  We will create one stuffed animal using sewing techniques, and then use other techniques to complete our other animals! We will also work to incorporate different fabrics, buttons, dyeing methods and more into our animals.

Magical Glow Forest 1-4 PM
Lights out! For this camp we will illuminate our studio with black lights to create a magical art forest that will truly glow! What would live in a magical forest? Unicorns, fairies, fireflies, and dragons? What art materials glow and what do not? We will work to sculpt, draw, paint, and create a magical forest where imagination ignites and dreams come true!

Mystery Postcards 9-Noon
The mailman has been leaving mysterious postcards at The Art Spark! Each day Sparklers will arrive to find a postcard from a foreign country. The postcard will include details of what makes the place he’s visiting so special. Perhaps they will be inspired by The Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia and paper mache sea creatures,  or want to sculpt French macaroons, or draw the ruins of Machu Picchu. Each day we will explore a new country and create art inspired by the fun postcards we receive.

Christmas in July 1-4 PM
It’s hot, sticky, and filled with pool days, but sometimes we find ourselves dreaming of snowflakes, hot chocolate, and Santa. Sparklers will work all week as party planners dreaming up the ultimate Christmas in July party! Could we make paper mache christmas trees and ornaments? Or our very own Santa and Elf costumes? Will we have snowball fights, and sculpt Christmas cookies? Imagination will ignite as Sparklers are inspired by the most wonderful time of the year!

Week 8: July 22-26

Fabric Fun 9-Noon
With fabric as the focus, Sparklers will begin brainstorming all the places in their life that they use & see fabric. Once they have compiled a list (hopefully filled with stuffed animals, curtains, clothing, bags, scarves, toys, and so much more) we will determine what projects we would like to create throughout the week. Each day we will introduce new and exciting techniques that can be applied to fabric such as dyeing, stamping, sewing, ripping, tying, cutting, wax painting, and more!

Castle Creators 1-4 PM
Here ye, here ye! All are invited to come and create the most enchanted castle in all the land! Sparklers will work as a team to build the castle that they explore and play in on Friday. Each day we will work on adding new and exciting additions to our castle. Is there a magical garden? Swimming pools? Knights and jousting tournaments? Dragons to protect the castle? A magical moat complete with unicorns and waterfalls? Imagination will ignite as we work to create the castle of our dreams!

Week 9: July 29-Aug 2

Imagine, Draw Sculpt 9-Noon
Each idea in art can begin with a thought, which leads to questions, sketches, and ultimately a creation! In this camp Sparklers will compile a list of sculptures they would like to create throughout the week. Each day we will sketch our ideas before learning a new and exciting sculpture and molding techniques. We will be using plaster, paper mache, clay, and model magic to sculpt our favorite creatures, animals, and designs. With so many new materials and techniques available, imagination will soar!

Slime Flies When You’re Having Fun!
Sparklers will become slime masters during this camp. As slime masters we will work to understand: What makes slime soft, stretchy, or sticky? How can we make our slime glow? Colorful? Glittery? And Textured? How can we create our own unique slime that represents our personal interests? In addition to creating slime, we will ask ourselves what other tools a slime master needs. A recipe book for our slime creations? Aprons to protect our clothes? Games we can play with our slime? Sparklers will set up their own slime shop by the end of the week. (Please note: After teaching many slime camps, we have determined the best age range for this specific camp is 7-10 years) 

 

Week 10: Aug 5-9
Morning Camp //Lunch//Afternoon Camp

Birthday Bash 9-Noon
Who says it can only be your birthday one time a year? For this camp, we will imagine it is EVERYONE’s birthday on Friday and work to plan the biggest bash of the year! What will we need for our party? Invitations? Goodie bags? Cake Sculptures? Will there be a theme to our party? Will there be activities and outdoor games like water balloon toss? Sparklers will sculpt, draw, paint and design a birthday bash unlike any other!

Top Secret 1-4 PM
On Monday, Sparklers will be given a top secret mission to uncover who has been sneaking into The Art Spark and stealing all the glitter!  What will we need to uncover this mystery? Suspect drawings? sculpted cameras,  masks to disguise ourselves, a box for evidence, magnifying glasses, a jail cell to put this glittery gremlin in? We will use our best detective skills to determine who is behind this mystery!

Week 11: Aug 12-15

Toy Factory 9-NOON
At the beginning of the week we will research a variety of toys and games before compiling a list of toys we would like to create throughout the week. We will then put our imagination to work as we determine what art materials would be best to use to make our toys! Will we create our very own board games based around unique themes?  Will we need fabric for stuffed animals? Could we work as a team to make a marble whirl that runs through the entire studio? The possibilities are endless!

It’s Glowin’ Down 1-4 PM
Creating art is always a magical experience but campers will see art LITERALLY in a different light at this camp in our special black light room! We have worked throughout the year determining which sculpting, drawing, and painting materials glow best under our special black lights so we can offer the best glow camp around. Sparklers will work on paintings, sculptures,  jewelry,  and more that can all GLOW!
