Little Painter’s Preschool

Our Little Painter’s Preschool is an arts based preschool which fosters curiosity, independence, and exploration. When children create in our studio they will ask questions, solve problems, and learn in new and exciting ways.

While imagining and creating art, we seamlessly incorporate key subjects:

  • Math
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Science
  • Music

While also working to foster your child as a whole  in the following areas:

  • Decision Making
  • Character Building
  • Social Interaction
  • Creative Play
  • Fine Motor Skills
  • Being a Friend
  • and more!

Little Painter’s Preschool offers Immersive Adventures during each unit we study.

    What’s an Immersive Adventure?

Why just think and talk about outer space when we can build a rocket ship and blast off to the stars? For each Adventure our studio will be transformed by teachers and Little Painter’s as we learn and create work relevant to the theme. Throughout each Adventure we will explore, play, and learn art techniques while simultaneously studying math, science, reading, and writing. For example, if we are building a rocket ship together, we may study math as we learn how to count backward from 20 when we blast off, and distinguish the different shapes used to create a rocket ship.

Why Immersive Adventures?

Lessons with a distinct memory attached have the power to stay with your growing child.  Immersive environments intrinsically motivate your child to explore, question, study, and create through learning. Memories made during our adventures are lessons that will last throughout their academic career.

How does Little Painter’s Preschool benefit my child socially?

Children studying at Little Painter’s Preschool will be challenged to learn about and understand their classmates everyday! We will get to know each other’s interest, learn how to help each other & work as a team, and establish rules for happy playtime. We take playtime very seriously, and have play activities relevant to our Immersive Adventure unit each day!

Each class we will follow this schedule:

8:30-8:45 Place belongings in cubby, Calendar and Weather Time, and Won’t You Be My Neighbor? (A time when we students ask classmates questions and try to understand peers and socially interact with the people around them!)

8:45-9:10 Introduce the Immersive Adventure of the Day. We may read relevant books, pretend to blast off to outer space, or create a diagram to establish what we already know.

9:10-9:45 Create pieces of our immersive adventure room while integrating key subjects.  For example: We may create a rocket ship and learn all about shapes as we do this. We may then learn how to count up to 10 and backwards from 10 so we can blast off into outer space in our new rocket ship!

9:45-10:15 Letter of the Day! We will work our way from A to Z throughout the year. The letter of the day will be relevant to our immersive environment. (A is for Astronaut, etc.) We will practice writing letters, finding letters on household items and in books, and doing the letter sounds.

10:15-10:30 Eat a snack

10:30-11:15 Immersion Adventure Play: We will have play activities in our immersive adventure room that change with each unit. Activities may foster your child’s growth in the following ways: fine and gross motor skills, STEM activities that encourage your child to ask questions and find answers, imaginative play, and more! Children will be encouraged to try different activities during playtime each day.

11:15-11:30 Review what we have learned that day. Where was our adventure? What was our letter of the day? What activities did you play? What did we create? What are you hoping we learn/create next time on our immersive adventure?

Why at The Art Spark?

Our bright, cheerful and spacious classroom is perfectly set up to accommodate small groups of children. We will stick to a 10:2 student teacher ratio.   Our teachers have a degree focused on K-12 art education, but our 10 + years of experience with preschoolers in our programs has given us expertise and tools to help your child learn, play, grow, and thrive!  Our studio not only has an abundance of art materials, we have cubbies for each pre-schooler to customize and make their own, as well as a play-scape area that can be transformed based on our adventure unit, a water table, a library of books, as well as toys that inspire play, refine gross and fine motor skills, and so much more!  We believe in spending time outside (when weather allows) and have a beautiful yard for preschoolers to explore, play, grow, and imagine!

We offer summaries of what we do in the classroom each week, as well as a Parent Teacher Conference halfway through the year!

We send home a detailed summary of each lesson completed at The Art Spark. We also suggest activities that can be completed at home to supplement their class offerings. In January, we offer parent/teacher conferences where we evaluate the places your child is thriving, as well as set goals for continued growth!
