Each week we will use a multitude of unique supplies to create our wintery projects including but not limited to: paint, watercolors, oil pastels, clay, Model Magic, pom poms, glitter, glue, tissue paper, and more!
*If there is a snow day, class will be cancelled that day. A credit for your class will roll over to the next session. We do not refund for snow days.
What do I do if my I know my child is going to miss a class?
If you know in advance that your child will not be able to make it to specific classes, please let us know before the session begins and we will prorate the session for you. If your child misses a class unexpectedly due to illness or a change of events, schedule a make-up class for your child to attend. You can choose a class to attend for a make-up from our class schedule on our website. Please send us an e-mail or give us a phone call to let us know when you would like your child to come in. We will not refund for classes missed unexpectedly.
What kinds of projects will you be doing?
The projects will be guided by the child’s creativity and individual ideas. As teachers, we have flexible plans that can be altered and changed based on the child’s interest, creativity and problem solving. When doing specific projects, we will review and refine basic art skills with our students. However, we will always focus more on process rather than product in our studio. We offer developing artists the tools and motivation to continue learning.
How Does Pick Up Work?
Art Spark teachers will pick up your child from the preschool rooms inside Rockwern at 12:15. At 1:15PM we will bring the children to the double doors by the old Holocaust Center (the side of the school that overlooks Montgomery Rd.) We will have you come up to the door and sign your child out individually. Please, let us call your child out as to make sure each child is accounted for and goes home with their right grownup!
We realize that our students may be experiencing their first after school class with us and we hold that in high regard. Our little students will learn all about art and creativity while at the same time grow to be more independent. We know this can be a lot for them and always strive to teach with patience and kindness. We use a myriad of different art supplies with the children and as teachers we are sometimes handling hot glue guns, sharp scissors, box cutters, etc. We keep these away from the little ones, but if the student refuses to listen they could get hurt. We try to maintain an extremely safe atmosphere and listening to the teacher is number one in promoting a secure environment. To help create this environment, we ask that you speak to your child(ren) before class to encourage good listening, not putting found objects into their mouth, importance of sharing, and staying with the teacher at all times. If your child seems to be experiencing behavior issues we will follow our 1,2,3 policy below.
Step 1: Take action within the class to change the behavior.
Step 2: If the behavior doesn’t positively change we will reach out to our student’s parent or guardian to address the issue.
Step 3: If said behavior continues to persist, we will unfortunately have the student stop class and refund the remaining time.
